At least 12 Indians have been confirmed dead in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, while 16 others are reported missing, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The ministry confirmed that the deceased Indians were fighting on Russia’s side in the conflict.

The MEA’s statement comes as part of ongoing efforts to track the safety of Indian nationals involved in the war, some of whom reportedly volunteered to fight alongside Russian forces. The ministry has been in constant contact with relevant authorities to gather more information about the missing individuals and to provide support to the families of the deceased.

The government has urged all citizens to avoid travel to conflict zones and reiterated that it does not encourage involvement in foreign conflicts. Further investigations and diplomatic efforts are underway to resolve the situation of the missing Indians. The families of those affected are being provided assistance by the Indian government.

During a press conference, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal addressed the situation of Indian nationals involved in the Russia-Ukraine war. He stated, “As of today, there have been 126 cases of Indian nationals serving in the Russian Army. Of these 126 individuals, 96 have returned to India after being discharged from the Russian Armed Forces. Currently, 18 Indian nationals remain in the Russian Army, and the whereabouts of 16 of them are unknown.”

The MEA’s statement highlights the government’s efforts to track the status of Indian nationals involved in the conflict. The ministry is continuing to provide assistance to the families of those missing and working closely with Russian authorities to locate the individuals. The government has reiterated its stance against Indian citizens participating in foreign conflicts and urges them to avoid such engagements.

Jaiswal further added, “The Russian side has categorized them as missing. We are seeking their early release and repatriation. Additionally, 12 Indian nationals have died while serving in the Russian Army.”

The MEA spokesperson emphasized that the government is working diligently to secure the safe return of the missing individuals and continue to assist the families of the deceased. The ministry is in constant communication with Russian authorities, urging them to expedite the process for the repatriation of those still unaccounted for.

The MEA’s response follows the tragic death of an Indian national who had been recruited by the Russian military, with another sustaining injuries during Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine. The government has expressed deep concern over the safety of Indian nationals involved in the war and reiterated its commitment to securing their safe return. The ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and is in touch with Russian authorities to facilitate the repatriation of affected individuals.

MEA ON BINIL BABU’S DEATH

Kerala man Binil Babu was tragically killed during the ongoing Ukraine conflict. The Indian embassy has been in contact with Russian authorities to ensure the repatriation of his mortal remains to India. In addition, another Indian national, Jain TK, who sustained injuries, is currently receiving treatment in Moscow. He is expected to return to India once his treatment is completed. The Ministry of External Affairs continues to provide support to the families and is closely coordinating with Russian authorities to address the situation.

Responding to the death of Binil Babu, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “The death of Binil Babu is extremely unfortunate. We have conveyed our condolences to the family. Our embassy is in touch with the Russian authorities so that his mortal remains can be returned to India as soon as possible. Another person who was injured is receiving treatment in Moscow. Hopefully, he will also be returning to India soon after his treatment is completed.” The government is actively working to support the families of the affected individuals and facilitate their safe return.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the Indian embassy in Moscow is in contact with the families of the two Indians affected by the conflict. The embassy is providing all possible assistance to ensure their well-being and facilitate the repatriation process. The MEA reiterated its commitment to supporting the families during this difficult time and is working closely with Russian authorities to address the situation.

“We have learned of the unfortunate death of an Indian national from Kerala, who had apparently been recruited to serve in the Russian Army,” Jaiswal said. He expressed condolences to the family and confirmed that the Indian embassy is in touch with Russian authorities to ensure the timely repatriation of the deceased’s mortal remains. The MEA is also providing support to the family during this difficult time.
