For South Korean actor Hyun Bin, his upcoming film Harbin holds great personal significance. The timing of the project coincided with a milestone in his life, making it even more meaningful. The day after the traditional ceremony to bless the film’s production was held in 2022, Hyun Bin and his wife, actress Son Ye-jin, welcomed their first child into the world.
Hyun Bin shared that the birth of his son brought him immense joy and a new perspective on life. This major life event, coupled with the emotional depth of his role in Harbin, created a unique connection between his personal and professional worlds. The film, which is set against the backdrop of Korean independence fighters during the early 20th century, required Hyun Bin to step into a challenging role, demanding a significant amount of preparation.
Despite the pressures of juggling fatherhood and his career, Hyun Bin remains deeply committed to his family. His son and wife have become his top priorities, and he credits them for providing him with the strength and motivation to take on demanding roles like the one in Harbin.
As he reflects on his journey both as a father and an actor, Hyun Bin acknowledges the deep emotional impact that Harbin has had on him. The story of resistance and resilience in Harbin resonates with his own experiences of navigating the challenges of fatherhood while continuing to pursue his passion for acting. The role of a Korean independence fighter represents not just a professional challenge for Hyun Bin, but also a significant personal connection to his heritage and the future he is building with his family.
Hyun Bin recently shared that his wife, Son Ye-jin, and their son have become his top priorities. Reflecting on his life since becoming a father, he expressed that his family now comes first, and they provide him with the strength and inspiration to navigate both his personal and professional life. Hyun Bin emphasized that while his acting career remains important, the arrival of his son has shifted his focus, with his family now at the center of his world.
In a recent interview, Hyun Bin opened up about his family life and his role in Harbin, a film that has garnered significant attention. He shared that his family, especially his wife Son Ye-jin and their son, are now his top priorities, and the arrival of his child has brought a new sense of joy and responsibility into his life.
Regarding his career, he discussed the personal significance of Harbin, which premiered in South Korea on December 24. The film, set against the backdrop of the Korean independence movement, will soon be released in select Asian markets and is set to debut in North America on January 3. Hyun Bin expressed the challenges of balancing fatherhood with the pressures of his demanding role in the film but emphasized that his family gives him the strength to manage both.
Set in 1909 and based on real historical events, Harbin is a gripping period drama that centers on a group of Korean independence fighters led by Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910). The film chronicles their daring plan to assassinate Ito Hirobumi, Japan’s first prime minister and the resident-general of Korea, at China’s Harbin Station. This significant act of resistance takes place just before Japan’s annexation of Korea, marking a pivotal moment in Korea’s struggle for independence. The film combines intense action with emotional depth, highlighting the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought against colonial rule.
“Getting married and having a child has changed so much,” Hyun Bin shared as he reflected on the profound transformation in his life since becoming a father. The actor, who welcomed his first child with wife Son Ye-jin, spoke about the overwhelming joy and responsibility of parenthood. He noted how his priorities have shifted, with family now taking precedence over everything else. Hyun Bin emphasized that the experience of becoming a father has brought a deeper sense of fulfillment and perspective, shaping his outlook both personally and professionally.
