India Set to Become World’s Third-Largest Economy by 2027, Says Piyush Goyal

Piyush Goyal further highlighted that former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, in his 2014 interim budget, had predicted that India would become one of the top three economies in the next three decades.

Piyush Goyal Predicts India to Become World’s Third-Largest Economy by 2027

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, confidently stated on Tuesday that India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027, surpassing Japan and Germany. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Tamil magazine ‘Thuglak’, Goyal emphasized India’s remarkable progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Goyal noted that, under Modi’s governance, India has moved from being the 11th largest GDP to the 5th largest in just ten years. He credited the leadership and transformative policies for this rapid economic ascent.

The minister also referenced a prediction made by the then Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, in his 2014 interim budget. Chidambaram had forecasted that, within three decades, India’s nominal GDP would propel the country to the third position globally, following the United States and China. Goyal pointed out that Chidambaram’s long-term vision was now aligning with India’s accelerating growth trajectory.

Goyal’s remarks underline the optimism surrounding India’s economic potential, with projections indicating that the country’s continued development and reforms will elevate it to a leading economic power in the coming years.

Piyush Goyal Highlights Modi’s Vision for India’s Economic Rise and International Recognition

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, strongly asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership would propel India to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027, well ahead of Japan and Germany. Goyal emphasized that while the former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had predicted a 30-year timeline for India to achieve this milestone, Modi’s vision would see India reach this goal in just 13 years. “What did Mr. Modi do? He said I will do it in less than half that time and I assure you friends, by 2027, India will be the world’s third-largest economy, ahead of Japan and Germany; in only 13 years and not 30 (years), that is Prime Minister Modi’s commitment and courage of conviction,” Goyal stated.

Goyal also pointed to Prime Minister Modi’s global stature, noting that 19 nations had awarded him their highest civilian honors. These nations include eight Muslim-majority countries, 10 Christian-majority nations, and one Buddhist-majority country. Goyal highlighted this recognition as a powerful rebuttal to the false narratives that some individuals attempt to spread against both India and PM Modi. According to Goyal, the international accolades reflect the respect and admiration India commands on the global stage under Modi’s leadership.

Piyush Goyal Praises Modi as an Inclusive Leader with True Secularism

Union Minister Piyush Goyal further lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “most inclusive leader” who embodies true secularism. Goyal emphasized that Modi does not engage in appeasement politics and instead upholds the principle of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (Together with All, Development for All). According to Goyal, Modi’s leadership transcends divisive politics, focusing on the welfare and progress of every section of society, irrespective of their background or beliefs.
