In an exclusive interview, Nagarjuna shared insights into his diet, daily habits, and workout routine that help him stay in shape.
Nagarjuna, who is turning 66 this year, continues to impress with his remarkable physique, a result of his disciplined and healthy lifestyle. The veteran actor has always prioritized fitness, and his commitment has kept him in top form over the years.
In a recent interview, Nagarjuna shared the details of his fitness routine. He revealed that he exercises five to six days a week, dedicating almost an hour each morning to a balanced mix of weight training and cardio. This combination helps him stay strong and agile, regardless of his age.
However, the actor emphasizes that fitness isn’t just about rigorous workouts. He strongly believes in the importance of indulging in activities that keep both the body and mind healthy. For Nagarjuna, swimming and playing golf are essential parts of his routine. These activities not only help in maintaining a fit body but also contribute to his mental well-being, offering a perfect balance to his demanding schedule.
Nagarjuna’s dedication to staying fit serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing that age is just a number when it comes to maintaining health and wellness.
How Nagarjuna remains fit
Nagarjuna’s impressive physique at the age of 65 is a testament to his unwavering dedication to fitness. The secret behind his ageless appearance lies in a disciplined routine that combines a balanced diet and regular exercise. In a recent interview, the actor shared insights into his go-to fitness regime, which has been a part of his life for over three decades.
His fitness routine is a combination of cardio and strength training, which he has been following consistently for the last 30-35 years. Nagarjuna believes that staying active throughout the day is key to maintaining his physique. He explains, “It is more about consistency. I stay active throughout the day; if I do not go to the gym, I go for a walk or swim.”
Nagarjuna’s approach to fitness emphasizes the importance of balance and consistency rather than intense, short-term efforts. His commitment to staying active, whether through strength training, walking, or swimming, has undoubtedly played a significant role in helping him maintain his youthful and fit appearance well into his 60s. This dedication serves as an inspiration to many, showing that a long-term commitment to physical health can yield remarkable results.
For many, finding an excuse to skip a workout is easy, but Nagarjuna believes that achieving lasting results requires consistent effort and dedication. The actor emphasizes that the benefits of working out go beyond just physical fitness. In his view, exercise also contributes to mental clarity, discipline, and overall well-being.
Nagarjuna says that he would prioritize working out over anything else, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining both his body and mind. He strongly believes that the effort invested in regular exercise brings numerous rewards, helping him stay healthy and vibrant even as he ages. For the veteran actor, fitness is not just about looking good—it’s a lifestyle that enhances every aspect of his life.
Nagarjuna is unapologetically dedicated to his fitness routine, emphasizing that exercise is his top priority. He said, “I would rather not work than not exercise. Working out is my first priority as soon as I wake up.” The actor is committed to working out five days a week, and if possible, six days. His workouts typically last around 45 minutes to one hour, and he describes them as intense rather than easy-paced. For Nagarjuna, staying fit isn’t just about physical appearance—it’s a fundamental part of his daily life that helps him maintain both his body and mental well-being.
Nagarjuna shares workout tip
Nagarjuna also revealed some of his favourite tricks for staying in shape and boosting calorie burn. He shared, “One trick a trainer taught me quite some time ago: be it cardio or strength training, keep your heartbeat above 70 percent of your maximum rate at all times.” This strategy, according to Nagarjuna, ensures that his workouts remain effective in promoting fat loss and improving overall fitness, helping him maintain a lean physique and sustained energy levels.
Nagarjuna further emphasized the importance of staying active throughout a workout. He advised, “So don’t rest too much in between your workout, don’t sit down, don’t carry phones. Just concentrate and make sure your heartbeat is above a certain level, and that would keep your metabolism high throughout the day.” He stressed the core principle of his fitness philosophy: consistency. “Just give your body one hour to 45 minutes every day. That should be enough to take care of it,” he said. He also highlighted the significance of sleep and hydration, reminding everyone not to neglect these essential aspects of a healthy lifestyle.
He belies his 65 years with a dedicated diet plan
So, how does Nagarjuna maintain his youthful appearance and energy? He attributes it to fueling his body with the right foods to sustain his energy levels and overall health. He shared, “My diet has changed over the years drastically; you need to do that as your body can’t handle what it could when you are 30. And I feel much lighter because of the diet change.” Nagarjuna emphasizes the importance of adapting one’s diet to age, making healthier choices that contribute to a more balanced and active lifestyle.
Sharing details of his diet that keeps him in top shape, Nagarjuna encouraged his fans to “eat a healthy breakfast and lunch and just be careful with dinner.” He explained, “That is what I have been doing. I finish my dinner by 7 pm or 7.30 pm maximum. This will set your diet and lifestyle on track.” He also highlighted the importance of being mindful of food intolerances, saying, “Many of us Indians have a dairy intolerance after a certain age and gluten intolerance. These two, if you are off, half your problems are solved.” Nagarjuna’s approach to diet is about making mindful choices, maintaining balance, and listening to one’s body as it ages.
Nagarjuna, who follows the 12:12 intermittent fasting method (where you eat for 12 hours and fast for 12 hours), also shared his approach to fasting. He explained, “I do intermittent fasting. 14 hours of fasting happens every day, or I fast for at least 12 hours a day, from evening to the next morning.” This practice is part of his overall strategy to maintain his health, energy, and physique as he continues to prioritize a balanced lifestyle.
Nagarjuna’s take on cheat meals
Nagarjuna proves that even the rich and famous need a cheat meal every now and then! While his diet revolves around maintaining a balanced and disciplined approach to eating, he allows himself to indulge in his favorite foods on Sundays. The actor is particularly fond of Hyderabadi cuisine, especially biryani, and enjoys indulging in chocolate as part of his cheat meal. This approach helps him maintain a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying the pleasures of food.
He said, “I like sugar; I like my chocolates. As long as you work out, it is fine, and you don’t have any other health issues,” adding, “Sunday is my cheat day. I eat and drink what I feel like. I don’t even think twice about it, and that makes you feel you are not denying something to yourself.” This balanced approach to fitness and indulgence allows Nagarjuna to stay healthy while enjoying his favorite treats, proving that moderation and consistency are key to maintaining a fit lifestyle.
How Nagarjuna begins his mornings
Celebrities’ morning routines can be quite intriguing. Let’s dive into some of Nagarjuna’s daily habits: he wakes up early and starts his day with a workout around 7 am. His morning routine also incorporates probiotics, which can be a great way to boost your gut health and set yourself up for an energized day. Probiotics, known for supporting digestion and immunity, play a key role in Nagarjuna’s diet, alongside his workout routine, ensuring that his body stays in top condition. With a disciplined start to his day, Nagarjuna proves that consistency and smart habits are integral to maintaining his youthful energy and fitness at 65.
Nagarjuna shared the details of his morning routine, saying, “I have some natural probiotics, like kimchi, sauerkraut, fermented cabbage. Then I have some warm water and coffee and go for my workout.” These gut-friendly foods, combined with warm water and coffee, help energize him for his daily exercise session, setting a solid foundation for a productive and healthy day ahead. His dedication to maintaining a disciplined morning routine is key to his youthful appearance and overall fitness at 65.
Nagarjuna makes sure to swim or play golf
Nagarjuna emphasized the importance of staying active for both physical and mental well-being. He shared how playing golf profoundly impacts his mental health, saying it offers a unique combination of physical activity and cognitive challenges. Golf helps him stay focused, calm, and sharp, providing a mental break while also keeping him physically engaged. This balance of relaxation and concentration contributes significantly to his overall fitness and well-being.
Nagarjuna emphasized the mental benefits of playing golf, saying, “For mental clarity, I play a little bit of golf. Golf is very mental. I think it keeps your mind very sharp as the concentration levels are very high to play the game right.” He believes that the sport not only offers physical benefits but also sharpens focus and enhances mental clarity, which is crucial for overall well-being.
Nagarjuna also highlighted swimming as a key element in his fitness routine, describing it as a fantastic exercise for overall health and well-being. He shared, “I have been swimming since the age of 14 or 15; so it is a part of my life. It is fantastic.” For him, swimming is not just a form of physical exercise, but a lifelong habit that contributes to his youthful vitality.
