Putin Highlights Growing Global Interest in BRICS Expansion

Russian President Putin highlighted the growing global interest in BRICS, noting that the recent summit in Kazan attracted many world leaders. He praised Kazan for its significant development, stating that it has become one of the best cities in Europe.

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the BRICS countries are working together to create new tools that will drive economic growth and reshape the global economic structure. These efforts, he explained, aim to contribute to long-term progress for humanity and reinforce the leadership of BRICS nations in the global movement forward.

In his speech during the “Results of the Year” event on December 19, Putin discussed how BRICS countries are fostering greater economic collaboration and innovation. This approach, he noted, will not only bolster their individual economies but also enhance their collective influence on the world stage.

The Russian president highlighted the group’s commitment to strengthening the position of BRICS countries as key global players, asserting that their ongoing initiatives will help ensure a balanced and sustainable economic future. By focusing on transformative projects and cooperation, BRICS aims to promote growth and development in both its member states and the broader international community.

In response to a question from a journalist from Tatarstan, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated that BRICS operates with the primary focus on serving the interests of its member states. He emphasized that the association’s efforts are directed towards fostering mutual cooperation, strengthening economic ties, and ensuring the progress of the member countries. According to Putin, BRICS continues to play a crucial role in promoting the collective well-being of its members while contributing to global economic growth.

President Vladimir Putin highlighted the rapid development of BRICS, noting that the association has garnered significant interest from many countries due to its foundation on mutual respect and reciprocity. According to Putin, all decisions within BRICS are made through consensus, which he believes is crucial for the organization’s success. He stressed that there are no distinctions between large or small states, or between more and less developed countries. The only shared interest among BRICS nations, he emphasized, is development, which remains the core objective of the association.

President Vladimir Putin also remarked on the success of the BRICS summit held in Kazan, highlighting the significant number of world leaders who attended. He praised the capital of Tatarstan for its remarkable progress in recent years, stating that Kazan has become one of the best cities in Europe due to its rapid development. This transformation, according to Putin, reflects the city’s growing prominence on the international stage and its role in hosting key global events like the BRICS summit.

In response to a question from a journalist at Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, President Vladimir Putin discussed the growing relationship between Russia and China. He emphasized that the bilateral ties have reached an unprecedented level in the past decade, driven by mutual trust and cooperation. Putin highlighted that the two countries’ relationship is not only strategic but also built on deep, longstanding partnerships that have strengthened across various sectors. He further emphasized that both nations are committed to further enhancing their cooperation, which continues to evolve in a positive direction.

Speaking about economic cooperation, President Vladimir Putin highlighted that the trade turnover between Russia and China is estimated to range from USD 220 billion to USD 240 billion. He also pointed out that both countries are currently working on more than 600 joint investment projects, reflecting the growing depth of their economic ties. This extensive cooperation underscores the strong and expanding partnership between the two nations, which continues to drive mutual prosperity and development across various sectors.

“Finally, a very important component, in my opinion, is the humanitarian part. We constantly hold cross years — the year of culture, the year of youth exchanges. This is all very important for people; it is a base for the development of economic ties and political interaction,” Putin added. He emphasized that the strong cultural and social exchanges between Russia and China play a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations. By fostering people-to-people connections, these initiatives create a foundation for deeper economic and political collaboration, enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the two nations.

“Latin America is represented here, as always, because Cuba, Venezuela, and the rest of the region have always had good, friendly relations with Russia,” Prensa Latina journalist Hansell Pavel Oro Oro noted in a conversation with the international media network. He highlighted the long-standing ties between Russia and Latin American countries, emphasizing their continued collaboration in various fields, including political, economic, and cultural exchanges. These strong relationships reflect a shared commitment to mutual respect and cooperation, contributing to the broader global partnerships in which both Russia and Latin America participate.

The programme “Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin” took place in the format of a direct line combined with a press conference. During the event, President Vladimir Putin answered questions from both Russian citizens and representatives of foreign media on a wide range of topics, including domestic policy, social issues, international relations, and foreign economic activity. The direct line received nearly 2.5 million appeals, and 76 questions were addressed during the session, according to TV BRICS. This format allowed for direct engagement with the public, reflecting the President’s commitment to transparency and communication with the Russian people and the global audience.
