Rahul Gandhi Slams Mohan Bhagwat’s ‘True Independence’ Remark, Calls It Treason

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday strongly criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat over his statement that India attained “true independence” only after the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Gandhi called Bhagwat’s remark an act of treason, labeling it an insult to every Indian who fought for the country’s independence.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters, Gandhi expressed his discontent with the RSS leader’s comments, suggesting that they undermine the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and the values enshrined in the Constitution. He accused Bhagwat of disrespecting India’s historical struggle for independence by tying it to a religious event.

Gandhi further emphasized the challenging circumstances faced by Congress party workers, stating that they are engaged in a battle of ideologies against a backdrop where institutions have been allegedly captured by the BJP and RSS. He claimed that investigative agencies are being misused to target opposition leaders, casting doubt on the fairness of the system.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha also raised concerns about the integrity of the country’s electoral process. Gandhi alleged that there is a “serious problem” with India’s election system, suggesting that it is compromised, and emphasized the need for reforms to ensure transparency and fairness in the process.

Rahul Gandhi Accuses Mohan Bhagwat of Treason Over Independence Movement Remarks

At the inauguration of the Indira Gandhi Bhawan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his remarks about India’s independence movement and the Constitution. Gandhi accused Bhagwat of committing treason, stating that his comments, which suggested the independence struggle and the Constitution were invalid, were an insult to the nation.

“Mohan Bhagwat has the audacity to say to the country what he thinks about the independence movement and the Constitution. What he said yesterday is treason… Because he is stating that the Constitution is invalid and the fight against the British was invalid,” Gandhi said.

He further criticized Bhagwat for publicly making such statements, claiming that in any other country, someone making such remarks would be arrested and tried. Gandhi’s comments reflect his strong opposition to the RSS chief’s controversial statements and his defense of the legacy of India’s freedom struggle and Constitution.

Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Bhagwat for Denying India’s 1947 Independence

Rahul Gandhi condemned Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks, stating that claiming India did not gain independence in 1947 is a direct insult to every Indian. He emphasized that such statements should no longer be tolerated. “To say that India did not get independence in 1947 is an insult to every Indian. And it is time to stop listening to this nonsense that these people think they can keep parroting out and shouting,” Gandhi said, expressing his frustration over the controversial statements made by the RSS chief.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress Built India’s Success on the Constitution; Slams Election Commission

At the inauguration of the Indira Gandhi Bhawan, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the Congress party has worked alongside the Indian people, building the nation’s success on the strong foundations of the Constitution. He remarked that the new building symbolizes this legacy and that it is essential to spread the ideas it represents throughout the country. “It is important that we take ideas from this building and spread these ideas in the rest of the country,” he stated.

Gandhi highlighted that Congress is engaged in a “civilisational war” with those who are attacking the values and principles the party holds dear. He asserted that only Congress has the capability to effectively challenge these forces.

In his address, Gandhi also criticized the Election Commission, accusing it of withholding information regarding the increase in the number of voters in Maharashtra from the Lok Sabha elections to the assembly elections. He alleged that the EC had refused to provide this information, further questioning the transparency of the electoral process.

Rahul Gandhi Accuses Election Commission of Withholding Voter Data, Demands Transparency

Rahul Gandhi raised serious concerns about the Election Commission’s refusal to provide voter data regarding the increase in the number of voters in Maharashtra between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. “What purpose does it serve? Why will it damage the EC? Why are they not giving us the list?” Gandhi questioned, stressing the need for transparency in the electoral process.

He pointed out that it is the Election Commission’s duty to ensure transparency in elections. “If there is an increase of one crore in the number of voters in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in Maharashtra, it is the duty and sacred responsibility of the EC to show us exactly why this has happened,” he added. Gandhi asserted that this lack of transparency indicates a “serious problem with our election system,” underlining the importance of addressing these concerns for the integrity of the electoral process.
