Sonu Nigam Calls Out Politicians for Leaving His Concert Early: ‘Disrespect to Ma Sarasvati’

Sonu Nigam asked politicians to avoid attending his concerts if they can’t stay until the end, calling mid-show exits disrespectful to the art and the audience, especially as a tribute to Ma Sarasvati.

Legendary singer Sonu Nigam expressed his disappointment with politicians who leave his performances midway, urging them to refrain from attending events if they cannot stay until the end. His appeal followed an incident at the “Rising Rajasthan” event on Monday, where several political dignitaries left during his performance.

Nigam took to social media to address the issue, calling the action disrespectful not only to him as an artist but also to the audience and the cultural significance of the event. He emphasized that leaving midway, especially when the performance is a tribute to Ma Sarasvati, is a disrespect to the art form itself.

The singer further urged that politicians should respect the occasion and stay until the end, highlighting the importance of showing appreciation for the artists’ efforts and the cultural rituals that accompany such performances. His message resonated with fans and fellow artists, calling for greater respect for the art and its practitioners.

In a video shared on Instagram, Sonu Nigam voiced his thoughts about the incident at the “Rising Rajasthan” event. He began by emphasizing the importance of the event and the distinguished delegates present. Speaking in Hindi, he said, “Delegates came from all over the world to enhance the pride of Rajasthan. There was a CM, a youth minister, a sports minister. There were a lot of people. I could not see all of them in the dark. There were a lot of people.”

Nigam went on to express his disappointment over the fact that some political dignitaries left during his performance, which he felt was disrespectful to the event, the audience, and the art itself. He conveyed his message in a calm yet firm manner, urging that politicians should respect the occasion and stay until the end of performances, especially when they are dedicated to significant cultural celebrations.

Sonu Nigam then expressed his disappointment over the conduct of some attendees at the event. He said, “In the middle of the show, I saw that the CM and the rest of the people left. As soon as they left, all the delegates also left.” He continued, “I have a request to all politicians, if you do not respect your artists, then what will the people outside do?”

Nigam’s words were a call for greater respect towards artists and performers, emphasizing that the actions of political figures set a precedent for others to follow. His message reflected his frustration with the lack of appreciation for the effort put into the performance, highlighting the importance of dignity and respect in such public settings.

Sonu Nigam, known for hits like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Yeh Dil Deewana, and many others, made a direct appeal to politicians, stressing the need to respect art and artists. He said, “If you have to leave, then do not come. Or leave before the show starts. Leaving in the middle of an artist’s performance is very disrespectful. This is an insult to Saraswati,” referring to the Hindu goddess of music and art.

His statement was a strong message about the importance of showing respect for performers and their craft, and he called on politicians to set a better example by honoring the value of artistic expression.

Sonu Nigam concluded his message with a final appeal to politicians, saying, “If you are leaving, then this is not the end of art. I have a request to you, if you have to leave, then leave before the show starts. Do not sit. You are great. You have a lot of work. You handle all the responsibilities. You should not waste your time in a show. You should leave early. Thank you. Very humbly, I request all of you.”

His words emphasized that while he respected their responsibilities, artists also deserved respect and that leaving mid-performance was disrespectful to both the art and the audience.

In the caption accompanying the video, Sonu Nigam reiterated his message, writing, “A humble request to all the respected Politicians of India, kindly don’t attend any performance of any artiste if you have to abruptly leave midway. This is disrespect to Art and Artistes and Maa Sarasvati.” His words highlighted the need for mutual respect between politicians and artists, emphasizing the importance of honoring the art form and the artists who create it.

The video has sparked conversations about the treatment of artists at public events and the need for dignitaries to better plan their attendance to avoid such situations. Many have supported Sonu Nigam’s call for respect towards artists, highlighting that leaving a performance midway not only disrespects the performer but also undermines the value of the art. The incident has led to discussions on how such actions can be prevented in the future by ensuring that event schedules align with the availability of dignitaries.
