Twinkle Khanna recalls a heartwarming moment when her daughter, Nitara, embraced her skin tone with confidence during a family beach outing.

Twinkle Khanna, the celebrated author, entrepreneur, and former actress, recently opened up about her children, Aarav and Nitara, and how their differing skin tones often lead to comparisons. Twinkle shared that while people tend to compare the siblings based on their appearances, she is focused on teaching them to embrace their individual identities and love themselves just as they are.
In her conversation, Twinkle emphasized the importance of self-acceptance and how she wants both Aarav and Nitara to grow up with confidence, regardless of their physical differences. She described a special moment during a family beach outing, where Nitara, in particular, confidently embraced her skin tone with pride. This moment, according to Twinkle, was a beautiful reminder of how important it is for children to feel comfortable in their own skin and to reject societal pressures that often promote unrealistic beauty standards.
Twinkle also spoke about how she and her husband, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, strive to provide a nurturing environment for their children. Despite their celebrity status, the couple prioritizes normalcy and values such as self-respect, kindness, and confidence in their children’s upbringing. Twinkle’s reflections are a timely reminder to both parents and children about the importance of embracing one’s unique qualities.

In addition to sharing insights on her parenting philosophy, Twinkle also revealed how she and Akshay have managed to keep family traditions alive in their busy lives. She mentioned how Akshay’s parents used to play cards every night, a tradition that she and Akshay have continued with their own children, ensuring that family time remains an important part of their routine.
Twinkle’s candid reflections highlight her commitment to raising her children with a strong sense of self-worth while continuing to cherish the values that make family life meaningful.
In a recent conversation, Twinkle Khanna shared a heartfelt reflection on her parenting journey, revealing how she learned important lessons from raising her first child, Aarav, and how those lessons shaped her approach with her second child, Nitara. “I learnt a lot with my first child. And I think your first child tends to be that manual. You experiment a little bit on that child,” she said, admitting that raising Aarav was an evolving experience.
Twinkle went on to explain how, with Nitara, she made a conscious effort to counteract the societal comparisons that often arise, especially regarding physical appearances. “I thought she looked like a normal Indian girl, and there was always this comparison between her and her brother in skin colour or things like that. Things that exist in our country,” she shared. Twinkle, however, made it a point to reassure Nitara about her beauty and uniqueness, regardless of these comparisons.

For example, Twinkle recalled telling her daughter, “If she has a unibrow, I told her that look, you are as beautiful as Frida Kahlo, and she was as amazing and so are you.” She also emphasized the importance of embracing one’s natural beauty, telling Nitara that her brown skin was “golden,” and that it was something to be proud of.
Twinkle’s approach highlights her commitment to nurturing her children’s self-confidence and helping them embrace their identities. By turning potential insecurities into affirmations of beauty, she is raising her children to be proud of who they are, regardless of societal standards.
Twinkle Khanna also fondly recalled a special moment during a family beach outing when her daughter, Nitara, confidently embraced her skin tone with panache. Twinkle described how Nitara proudly displayed her natural beauty, further reinforcing her determination to instill self-acceptance in her children. This moment served as a reminder of the importance of teaching children to love themselves and feel confident in their own skin, regardless of external comparisons or societal expectations.
Twinkle Khanna shared a heartwarming story about a proud moment with her daughter, Nitara. She recalled, “So eventually, one day, I think my proudest moment was when she was sitting with her brother and we were going to the beach and he was putting on sunblock. She said ‘I don’t really need so much sunblock because my skin is greater than yours’. And she said a white T-shirt gets dirty but a brown T-shirt doesn’t. You can’t see it so I am greater.” Twinkle expressed that she saw this as a triumph, as it showed Nitara’s confidence in her own skin and her ability to embrace her unique beauty with pride.

In the thick of the 2011 federal election, Stephen Harper appeared in the Indo-Canadian heartland of Ontario with a ringer. At a campaign stop in Brampton, Bollywood mega-star Akshay Kumar praised the then prime minister, danced on stage with his wife, Laureen Harper, and thrilled the audience. And at some point, the Harper government invoked a little-known law to grant the actor Canadian citizenship, circumventing the usual, stringent residency requirements for would-be Canadians, says a former Conservative cabinet minister. MP Tony Clement, who as industry minister met with Kumar in Mumbai, says the citizenship grant was just a thank you for the actor’s help in promoting Canadian tourism and trade to a huge emerging economy – not a reward for partisan support. ‘Basically, he had offered to put that star power to use to advance Canada-India relations, our trade relations, our commercial relations, in the movie sector, in the tourism sector,’ said Clement.

The sobering reminder of the entire region’s often inflamed ethnic and religious violence stood in jarring contrast to Harper’s next stop: a feel-good photo-opportunity in the penthouse of a pricey modern hotel with Akshay Kumar, an A-list Bollywood star and an Indo-Canadian, who brought out a huge throng of Indian media to an event promoting Canadian tourism. Harper also announced that Kumar, a black belt in karate, will be a torchbearer for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
